PLATFORM

"I've been involved in public service for a long time and understand our needs but also know our financial limitations. We need to create more local jobs, continue to improve our parks, improve city water & sewer infrastructure and provide our public safety departments with needed equipment. With more than a decade of government experience in Flatwoods, I know what it takes to find solutions, and to navigate the complicated governmental process to get things done."
Employee Education & Training

Provide city employees with educational opportunities to improve their skills while gaining knowledge to make operations more efficient in their respected departments.

We can't expect our employees to be efficient with new technologies and better ways of completing projects while saving money without providing proper education and training.

We have great employees, and providing them educational and training opportunities is a must.

Parks

We are blessed to now have three parks. Thanks to the generous donation of land our newest park will be built on 73 acres of land. This is a project that will take several years to complete after being properly planned by professional park designers.

Parks are needed to provide our citizens with outdoor space to enjoy and play. We have two nice parks, the one beside the city building and one located by the Flatwoods City Pool parking lot. Improvements are needed at the large park by the city building with some new equipment and infrastructure improvements. We will work with FIVCO and many others to obtain available grants.

Infrastructure

Rehabilitation plan for our aging and in some areas dilapidated sewer and water lines. Also, put a three, five and ten year plan together to improve city owned and maintained streets. Planning is key to developing a roadmap to improve infrastructures in the city.

We also need to submit for grants to assist with infrastructure improvements including sidewalk grants. Our current Mayor and Council have worked for years to place a sidewalk on Powell Lane from Argillite Road to Red Devil Lane. That project will happen in the spring of 2023.

Ordinances

City ordinances need to be reviewed and updated to meet the times. We have ordinances in place that are no longer needed or enforced. We simply need to do some housekeeping by removing, replacing and or adding ordinances that make the city operate more efficiently. With the help of city council we can improve the status of our online ordinances by making them easier to understand and locate.

Economic Development & Tourism

Flatwoods is a growing city, it always has been. We have the opportunity to improve our city and promote it for new economic development and tourism. With the help of many business minded people and potential grants, we will recruit new development and tourism. It's a team effort!!

It takes time!

I want to be transparent. Improvements will not happen overnight, they will occur within a timely manner according to a solid plan and as funding is available. I plan on working with each department to develop a comprehensive three, five and ten year plan. Again, it's a team effort!!
